Radiant Industries is an El Segundo, CA-based startup developing Kaleidos, a portable,containerized nuclear microreactor. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace diesel generators used today to provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, and military bases or to power microgrids at remote sites. Radiant’s unique yet practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe, factory-constructable microreactors leveraging existing, well-qualified materials. Radiant is on a fast track to demonstrate the first fueled operation of a new commercial nuclear reactor design, just four years from now. 

Radiant is seeking a highly motivated modeling and simulation engineer to develop nuclear reactor systems and power systems models.  

Responsibilities and Duties

• Work with multi-disciplinary team to support the development of nuclear reactor system models, microgrid electrical network models, and multi-reactor power system models.
• Develop algorithms for modeling failures of electrical grid components and reactor subsystems.
• Integrate hardware-in-the-loop simulations of reactor control systems.
• Work with internal and external customers to develop requirements and develop efficient modeling and simulation solutions.
• Work with subject matter experts to develop models of subsystems, systems, and system of systems.
 

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar field from an accredited institution. 
• Proficiency in Python.
• Ability to relocate to Radiant’s office in El Segundo, CA (Greater Los Angeles Area). 
• Ability to work or gain permission to work on export - controlled technologies based in the United States.   

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• 3+ years in engineering or science related field.
• Experience with physics systems modeling, electrical systems preferred.
• Proficiency with scientific Python (numpy, scipy)
• Some proficiency with other languages as well (C#, C, or C++) preferred.
